PhD Life

Campus Life

Most of the participating groups are clustered at two main locations:

Both Campuses are vibrant research hubs wit cutting-edge facilities and a high concentration of curiosity-driven scientists ready to share their expertise and passion for science.

To recharge your batteries, you can try the sports offered on campus, or unleash your creativity by play-acting with the Amateur Drama Club or by playing classical, film or pop music with the MolBio Orchestra. Or simply enjoy the many Happy Hours and Get-Togethers on Campus.

What our students say

I am glad that I made the choice of joining the VBC campus. In addition to having good scientific environment to discuss anything, we have an access for various kinds of biotech companies addressing all kind of laboratory needs. Also having extracurricular groups and activities (Amateur Drama Club plays, dragon boat...) that connects several different people from different cultures is an amazing feature of being a part of VBC campus.

I love working at a great institute in a great city. The facilities allow me to work to my best ability, and the city is a perfect lifestyle complement to the MFPL. There are not many cities as great as Vienna. There are so many things to see and do here. Combining that, with a research centre such as MFPL makes working here a unique experience

Nice atmosphere among the groups, part of a well equipped campus.

The MFPL has a very open atmosphere. For example, if you have questions about a method you're unfamiliar with, you'll always find someone to give you advice and help you out.

MFPL provides a nice working environment with postdoc, PI and students. Also, the campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities which is the best place for research.

Doing my PhD at MFPL is to get new ideas, and to find around me the the knowledge and possibilities for realizing them.

The VBC Drama Club has members from all the institutes and several companies on campus and the performances bring everyone together to relax with food, drinks and theatre!

Yes, I felt very much integrated in the multinational environment in MFPL. For example, there are some floor parties time to time that held on the floor which open to all the students on the floor.

"It's a wonderful and modern city, nestled in astonishing Nature" OR ... embedded in a crown of woods.

That you can really live in this city! Great quality of life, perfect balance, safe city!

Vienna is a small metropolis: whether it's one of the many (free) festivals taking place during summertime or the amazing christmas markets in the winter, there's always something to do!

Vienna is a convenient place to live in, basically you can access all the places in Vienna by public transports.

Living in Vienna is enjoying every day the enchantment of a town that everybody dreams to visit at least once in a life.

Balance, stability, great transportation system and weather-wise 4 seasons and a friendly atmosphere in the campus.

It is unique and truly inspiring place to do a world-class research. I simply love it!

It would be the supportive environment in MFPL with funded PhD.

At our campus in Vienna I can find the expertise, knowledge and facilities to realize all scientific ideas I want to follow.

If it’s considered exciting, discovering the city by running, because you can actually run everywhere.

The Outdoors around Vienna are beautiful! I often go Mountainbiking on the trails in Wiener Wald and the wine region Wachau is always worth a visit!

I have recently attended a concert with awesome performance which I found to be a very exciting experience for me in Vienna.

Only in Vienna I can go out for a bike ride into the woods in the morning and dress up for a concert at the opera in the night. Only in Vienna I can combine my love for nature and outdoor life with my cultural interests for arts and music.
